Change Starts Now: Art Became a Powerful Voice for Women's Rights

On the fourth day of the Erasmus+ Youth Exchange project "Change Starts Now" (2024-3-LV02-KA152-YOU-000266537), coordinated by KUFF Asociación de Solidaridad con Refugiados y Minorías, participants transformed creativity into a powerful tool for raising awareness about violence against women. The project continues in Riga, Latvia with partners from Austria, Latvia, Romania, Spain, Türkiye.

The programme began with collaborative discussions focusing on practical ways to prevent violence against women. Working in international groups, participants exchanged ideas, analyzed challenges, and developed innovative approaches to promoting gender equality within their communities.

Later, participants created informative brochures highlighting real stories of femicide and the importance of protecting women's rights. The brochures were designed to serve as awareness materials that could be shared both locally and internationally, encouraging broader community engagement.

One of the day's highlights was the theatrical performance of "Blood Wedding" by Federico García Lorca. Through drama and artistic expression, participants explored themes of violence, discrimination, and the consequences of inequality. Performed before a local audience, the play encouraged reflection and dialogue while demonstrating how art can become a powerful instrument for social awareness and change.

By combining education, creativity, and public engagement, the fourth day reinforced the project's mission of empowering young people to challenge gender-based violence and advocate for a more equal society.
